Squash in a factory.
A squash club, which is located in a former hall of Warynski’s factory in Wola district in Warsaw.
Due to the postindustrial feeling of the place, the key aspect of design process was to get the best possible compromise between industrial origins and new purpose and usability.
With a relatively limited intervention to the existing structure, we introduced the new functional division of the space, which consisted four courts, locker rooms, stands, reception and technical-administrative facilities.
To all of new functions we have assigned the colors, that ‘spilled’ out of the walls, floors and ceilings, integrating the modified space arrangement with already existing pieces of equipment and finishing materials.
This helped us to highlight the industrial past of the place and in the same time, to distinguish the contemporary sport purpose.
This kind of intervention gave the space a whole new level – both spatial and aesthetics.
